There are many sets of fitness drills that you can do.
The most important three are:
1. *Running/Sprinting
2. Cycling (Optional)
3. Swimming (Optional)
Running is extremely good for your fitness and sprinting builds up your speed.
Cycling is also good for fitness and works hard on certain areas of your legs.
Swimming works on all parts of the body.
Step One:
Run long distances beginning from 2.5km-3.5km and working towards 10km eventually. This should take you from half a year to 1 year. You should run at least 15 minutes everyday and on one day push yourself hard and run 1km further than you normally do.
Step Two: Cycling and Swimming should be done on the weekends for at least two hours. (If you don't have a bike or can't swim/don't have access to a swimming pool leave this out). Swimming is extremely good for lung conditioning.
Step Three: Make sure you stretch and warm up before doing any of these activities to make sure you don't pull a muscle.
